Our social league is currently located in Manly West bringing together players around Northern Beaches and area. We plan to expand into other suburbs over the next few years! DUG Volleyball offers a warm, welcoming environment where you can play competitively or just enjoy a friendly game. Whether you’re cheering on your teammates or diving for that perfect save, DUG is all about creating connections and making memories.

DUG Grass Rules
Applies to DUG Open and Leagues
Attack:

No open hand tipping
-
No setting over for any play - not on purpose nor by mistake

Roll shots and Pokies are allowed as usual

There is no back row line – all players can attack from anywhere

Indoor Setting rules apply – can have some spin, but not extreme double contacts. Cannot set the ball with two entirely separate contacts

No lift/carrying the ball allowed
Defence:
-
Setting the serve is allowed - one motion and double is ok, but not a lift
-
Setting a free ball is allowed- does not have to be perfect, but one motion is required
-
A block, like indoors, does not count as a touch - 3 more contacts are allowed afterwards

Double contact on first driven ball allowed – same as indoor/beach
-
No lift/carrying the ball allowed at any time of play

No holding and throwing the ball on a block (as seen on IG ;)

Multiple blockers allowed if you choose to

Any player can block any hitter - no restrictions
Rotation:
-
There is No specified rotation, but the serving order must remain the same for the game/set.

There must be one player of the opposite gender playing at all times. If you register with 4 players, only 3 are allowed on the court at one time.

Maximum 1 sub per team. Injuries that occur during play will allow more replacements.

In case of any injuries, you may get a substitute player from a lower division; unless ALL teams agree to allow a player from the same division (is no longer playing in the tourney) as a replacement.
Attire:

No cleated shoes allowed

Grass shoes allowed with small, rubberized traction

Optional to wear shoes or to play in bare feet
Other regular volleyball rules apply and can be addressed at the team meeting prior to the event start.
